TxDOT Kicks Off “Talk, Text, Crash” Campaign

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is hoping to educate the public about the dangers of distractions while driving with the launch of the “Talk, Text, Crash” campaign.

Preventive Efforts

TxDOT, along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, law enforcement, and local leaders, will be urging drivers to maintain focus on the road to avoid any potentially dangerous distractions. The “Talk, Text, Crash” campaign will host events across the state that will feature a car-sized, crashed phone as the focal point for guest speakers who will share their stories and offer insight into the texting-while-driving problem.

Campaign organizers are aware phone usage is not the only distracting factor in car accidents and will take a stand against other disruptions such as eating, drinking, grooming, reading, using navigational systems, and adjusting the radio. With these efforts, the campaign is looking to minimize the potential risks that exist on the road.
