The Accident

A white bicycle stands tied to a pole at the corner of Waugh and West Gray in Houston as a memorial for a deceased cyclist. The 24-year-old woman was the victim of a hit and run accident on December 1st while riding her bike back home.

The motorist who struck the cyclist, a 35-year-old woman, was arrested on a hit and run charge that occurred after an alleged night of drinking and driving.

Lacking Law

After the cyclist was found alive but seriously injured on the curb, she was taken to a Houston hospital where she died days later. Authorities were unable to gather witnesses of the car crash or any information that could have placed more serious charges on the driver. She was eventually only accused with a hit and run charge after she intentionally failed to stop to provide care and assistance to the victim.

Cries for Justice

Although friends, family and fellow cyclists praised the police department for finding and arresting the driver promptly, they were appalled by their inability to find evidence that would have brought a greater sense of closure.

In cases like these, it may seem impossible to find justice but there are people who can help. The personal injury attorneys of the J. Gonzalez Injury Attorneys will dedicate every second to building a strong case that will help you with your loss.
